Bleach is called Bleach because Tite Kubo(the author) actually wanted to call it black(Shinigamis are associated with black that's why) but it would have been boring to just use "black" white on the other hand can suggest black as a complementary color, so he chose "Bleach" to evoke the impression of the color white.
