, When Pewdiepie was getting beat you will see that he enconterd a creeper, You can also see about 5 seconds before he was lit on fire causing him to lose some hearts and food, So when he enconterd the creeper he was holding his food. Because of him having less hunger bars if he right clicked whilst holding the Cooked porkchop his shield would not have came up when he right clicked, so when he switched to his sword at the very last second of the creeper exploding and put up his shield, This means that he would have died if he had not switched his hot bar...
